PHASE ONE - 1842-1903 On April 13, 1942, the members belonging to the Baptist denomination living in the town and neighborhood of Cadiz, met on this day at the home of Brother C.A. Jackson, when in accordance with their request they were examined by a presbytery who believed them to be orthodox, and were upon their adopting of a certain declaration of Faith and Church Covenant, consituted into a church under the name of The Cadiz United Baptist Church.
In August 1842 the church joined the Little River Association. During the first Protracted meeting in May 1843 a building committee was appointed. The church had been meeting in the Court House and in the Methodist meeting house, but in May of 1848, the church met for the first time in its own building with their pastor, John F. White, preaching.
The first church house was on the same property which the current church facility now stands. At this time there were 26 white members and 23 black members.
PHASE TWO - 1903-1940 - In October of 1903 work began on a new house of worship. The first preaching service was held on March 20, 1904. The pastor was I.N. Strother. Three windows, in memory of John F. White, R.B. Thomas and George S. Wharton, were donated by their loved ones.
This beautiful old building still stands is now affectionately called "the old "chapel by many.
The church voted to have full time services in November of 1906.
PHASE THREE - 1940-2000 - This phase saw more changes made and more expansion. It saw the "new" church of 1903 become the "old chapel" and many other improvements as the church grew.
Many outstanding pastors led our church to be a leader in our community and in our associaton.
PHASE FOUR - 2000 - PRESENT God has continued to bless Cadiz Baptist Church in many magnificent ways. In 2001 a new educational building was completed complete with a beatuful preschool and children's area, a large choir room and a new office area. Kevin Roberts, the current pastor began serving in 2003 and former pastor Norman Ellis was enthusiastically name Pastor Emeritus.
Jason Strickland was also called as Associate Pastor in 2003 and Mike Rose continues his service as Minister of Music.
The history of Cadiz Baptist Church is a rich one, filled with many blessings; and the future of Cadiz Baptist is as bright as the promises of God!
